Classic Car: Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v

Lancia has found success in the World Rally Championship with its Lancia Delta HF Integrale. This car had 46 World Rally Championship victories and won the Constructors Championship six times in a row from 1987 to 1992. One of the most powerful, successful versions of the Delta HF Integrale is the Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v. This version of the Delta HF Integrale won its debut race at the 1989 San Remo Valley. The Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v was a Lancia like no other. When people think of the Lancia brand, they think of Lancia Beta and how badly it rusted. The Delta HF Integrale 16v was reliable and safe. This Lancia used a turbocharged that gave immediate response due to the reduction of the inertia in the turbocharger turbine. The highly efficient intercooler provided more power and greater reliability. Larger injectors provided higher output and efficient exploitation of the fuel feed at higher engine rpms. The car could run on unleaded fuel without modification.

I saw a Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v at the July 2011 edition of Houston Cars and Coffee. This is the first Lancia I have seen in person. It looks like a hatchback from the 1980s, similar to a 1980s Volkswagen Golf.
Lancias are very rare in America since Lancias were officially sold in America from 1975 to 1982, when Lancia withdrew from the American auto market due to slow sales.

The Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine, paired with five-speed manual transmission, that produces 200 hp and 224 lb-ft of torque. This car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 137 mph. At the time I am writing this article, I saw one Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v being sold on an internet auction for $15,795 with no bids.

Top Gear presenters did a segment on the Lancia brand, saying that Lancia has made the greatest number of great cars among any car brand, during Series 14, Episodes 3. The Top Gear presenters said that the Delta HF Integrale is like no other Lancia because it was safe and reliable. The Lancia Delta is the most successful Lancia ever built. It is safe and reliable. The Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v is one of the most successful rally cars ever made. Unfortunately, Lancia had a nightmare with the backlash from rusted Betas. The Lancia brand was pulled out of several markets, including the American and British car markets. Fiat bought Lancia in 1969 and bought 30% of Chrysler in 2009 and as of June 3, 2011, Fiat owned 52% of Chrysler. Since buying part of Chrysler, Fiat has returned to the American market with the Fiat 500. Fiat plans to use Chrysler platforms for Lancia Vehicles. The current Lancia Delta would be sold as a Chysler in the British and Irish car markets. In America, a Chrysler-badged Lancia Delta was revealed at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show and there are rumors that the Delta would replace the Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Lancia Opens Order Book for Ypsilon, Prices Start at €12,400 ($17,890) in Italy

Starting from today, the all-new Lancia Ypsilon is available for order in Italy with first deliveries scheduled for June in major European markets and September for the Chrysler badged model that will be offered in the UK and Ireland.

Available for the first time in a five-door body style, the fourth generation Ypsilon will be offered in three trim levels (Silver, Gold and Platinum), 17 body colors (four of which are two-tone schemes), six different upholsteries, three types of alloy wheels and three engine choices. All of these options will allow for a total of 600 different model combos.

The 3.84-meter long supermini will be offered with two petrol engines, a 69HP 1.2-liter and a 85HP 0.9-liter TwinAir, with the latter also being available with a DFN semi-automatic gearbox. A third engine option is the 1.3-liter Multijet diesel engine that develops 95 horsepower, with Lancia to offer later on a bi-fuel 67HP 1.2-liter unit that will run on petrol and LPG. All engines are fitted with the Stop&Start technology as standard.

The starting price in Italy for the new Ypsilon is €12,400 ($17,890) for the 1.2-liter petrol Silver version, which is equipped with remote central locking, two-way adjustable steering column, electric front windows, 15-inch steel wheels, 50/50 folding rear bench seat, height adjustable driver seat, fabric upholstery and heated tailgate window.

For €1,300 buyers can upgrade to the Gold version, which adds air conditioning, radio-CD with MP3 reader, electrically adjustable mirrors, leather covered steering wheel and gearshift lever, Castiglio upholstery and a Comfort Pack.

Add another €1,300 and you can get the Platinum model that is enhanced with electric rear windows, fog lights, 15-inch alloy wheels and leather upholstery. The most expensive model of the range will be the 1.3-liter diesel Platinum version, priced at €17.300 ($24,960).

Lancia will continue to offer the older-generation three-door Ypsilon Diva, which is priced at €12,400 ($17,890).

Fiat to Introduce Two New Dodge-Based Sedans in China and Russia by 2013

As time goes by, Fiat SpA’s integration with the Chrysler Group LLC deepens and the results become more evident with the two carmakers making several plans for the future. Speaking at Fiat's annual shareholders meeting on March 30, Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne revealed plans to launch two new Dodge-based sedans in China and Russia.

The first sedan will be a compact model built on the next generation Dodge Caliber, which is expected in the USA next January. According to an Autonews report, this model will enter production in China in the second half of 2011, while timing for the Russian launch has not yet been disclosed. The other four-door saloon will be a mid-size model based on the replacement for the Dodge Avenger, which is scheduled for launch in the USA in 2013. It will go on sale in China and Russia the same year.

Lancia Ypsilon 'Collection 2011' Flies to Los Angeles for Promo Shoot

The Fiat Group is trying to make the best of its newly found contacts in the U.S. after its partnership with Chrysler LLC as the Italian automaker chose the city of Los Angeles to shoot the promotional photos as well as a new TV spot for its limited edition Lancia Ypsilon 'Collection 2011', which goes on sale in Europe this month. The special edition version of the ageing Ypsilon adds some unique styling touches such as bespoke color options for the body work and cabin trim, plus an upgraded interior with new fabrics and leather surfaces with contrast piping.

The 'Collection 2011' or as it is called in Italy, 'Collezione 2011', will be the last hurrah for the current Ypsilon as Lancia will unveil an all-new model at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show. The next generation will be the first ever model in the Ypsilon series to be offered with a five-door body style, but more to come on that before the end of the month.

Classic Flashback: The Ferrari-Powered 1986 Lancia Thema 8.32

All the talk about the Fiat Group's plans to re-badge the redesigned 2011 Chrysler 300 (see our high-res gallery here) and re-brand it as the Lancia Thema in Europe, brought to mind the original Thema of the mid-1980s and -1990s, and especially, the Ferrari V8-powered 8.32 model.

Introduced at the 1984 Turin Motor Show, the Thema was Lancia's flagship sedan, sharing the "Type Four" platform with the Fiat Croma, Alfa Romeo 164 and the Saab 9000.

Shaped by the hands of Giorgetto Giugiaro, the boxy sedan model featured a 0.32 drag coefficient, which was an impressive figure at the time. Being a luxury model, it featured a comprehensive list of standard and optional features, including automatic air conditioning and heated seats wrapped in leather or Alcantara.

2011 Chrysler 300: New Gallery with 23 High Res Photos

It's taken a while, but we finally got our hands on a collection of photos of the 2011 Chrysler 300 sedan that we can share with you. Set to have its world premiere at next month's Detroit Motor Show, Chrysler's flagship sedan is expected to go on sale in the States around spring of 2011, while there has also been talk about a Lancia-badged version named Thema, which could be revealed in Europe towards the end of next year.

Chrysler has yet to release official info on the redesigned 300, however, the powertrain lineup is expected to be similar to its Dodge Charger twin, offering buyers the option of a new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi, as well as the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.

In terms of the exterior design, out goes the bad boy / gangster look of the first generation model, and in comes a more elegant, almost Buick / Lincoln-like styling approach with far more softer lines and heaps of chrome trim.
