2012 Audi A4 Facelift Spied

Other plans that Audi has for India are introducing the A1 hatchback, Q3 mini SUV and we exclusively spied the Audi A5 which was doing test rounds in and around Mumbai. The latest scoop says that Audi will give a facelift to the Audi A4. The A4 is one model which is not particularly doing well in India compared to the BMW 3 series and the Mercedes C Class. The 3 series facelift has already been spied, and the new C Class is already on its way to India, Audi will not rest on its laurels and will launch a facelifted A4 soon.
Even though the spy shots are of the A4 Wagon, the sedan will be no different except for the boot. The new model will take cues from the elder siblings A6 and A8 also it will be updated on the gadgetry department. The design will be more sharp with perfectly arched grille and wrap around tail lights.
We can expect this one to debut in the Auto Expo 2012 along with its rival 2012 Bmw 3 series.

First Impression: Audi R8
Audi R8 V10 Spyder |
quattro GmbH is the high performance subsidiary of of Audi AG. quattro GmbH got its name from the original four-wheel rally car, the Audi Quattro. quattro cars do not sell cars under its own brand, but instead under the Audi marque quattro is responsible for the Audi RS3, RS4, RS5, RS6, and R8. The Audi R8 is the only mid-engine supercar that bears the Audi four-ring badge. Production for the R8 started in 2006 with the R8 coupe being released in 2007 and the R8 Spyder being released in 2009. The R8 GT, the fastest and lightest of the R8s was released in May 2010. The R8 originally came with a V8, but a V10 version was revealed on December 9, 2008.
The Audi R8 is a regular participant of the Houston Cars and Coffee events. I have seen a few on the roads of Houston. The R8 is one of the best looking cars I have seen at the Cars and Coffee events. Audi showed the spyder version of the R8 at the 2011 Houston Auto Show. This was one of the best cars on display at the Houston Auto Show. I love the styling of the Audi R8.
The Audi R8 comes with three different engines. The 4.2L V8 produces 44 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The V8 coupe goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 187 mph. The V8 spyder goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph. Prices for the V8 Coupe start at $114,200 and prices for the V8 Spyder start at $128,950. The 5.2L V10 produces 525 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The V10 coupe goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 196 mph and prices for the V10 coupe start at $149,000. The V10 Spyder goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 194 mph with prices starting at $162,700. The R8 GT has the 5.2L V10 that is tuned to produce 560 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. The R8 GT goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 198 mph with prices starting at $196,800. All R8s come with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed R tonic single-clutch semi-automatic transmission. R8s with the R tonic transmissions cost a little bit more than the R8s with the manual transmission. No matter what engine, body style or transmission you go with, the R8 will be quick, fast, and stylish for a good price.
Top Gear has featured the Audi R8 multiple times. The R8 V8 coupe was reviewed during Series 10, Episode 2, when it was being compared to a Porsche 997 Carrera S. The Audi R8 V10 Coupe was being compared to a Corvette ZR1 during Series 14, Episode 2. The R8 V10 Spyder was being compared to a Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet during Series 15, Episode 4. The Audi R8 made two appearances on Battle of the Supercars. In season 1, episode 11, a tuned Audi R8 went up against a tuned Porsche 997 Turbo. In season 1, episode 13, The Audi R8 competed against the Lexus LFA. Both the R8 V8 coupe and the R8 V10 Coupe were shown at www.jaylenosgarage.com. The R8 was the vehicle mode for the Decepticon Sideways in the film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The R8 is playable in Driver: San Francisco, Project Gotham Racing 4, Gran Turismo 5, Need For Speed: Pro Street, Drift City, RayCity, Shift 2: Unleashed, Forza Motorsport 2, Need For Speed: Undercover, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, GTR Evolution, French Street Racing, Burnout Paradise, Need For Speed: Nitro, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen the Video Game, European Street Racing, Forza Motorsport 3, Blur, Need For Speed: Shift, Asphalt 5, Modnation Racer, Need For Speed: World, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, Split/Second, Test Drive Unlimited 2, and many other games.
Final Thought: I am not a big Audi fan, but I love the Audi R8, especially its styling. I think it is one of the better looking rear-mid engine supercars on the road. I think the price is fair for what the R8 is. I was not happy when it was sliced in half in the film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I don't car if Michael Bay used a real R8 or a computer-generated R8, he should not have had an R8 split in half.

To produce the R8 at quattro GmbH, seventy workers fit 5,000 unique parts by hand. The factory at Neckarsulm, redeveloped at a cost of €28 million, produces between eight and fifteen cars a day. Ninety-five lasers inspect the entire car in five seconds to ensure that over 220 measurements are within 0.1 millimetres of the programmed plans.

The 2-seat coupé is currently available in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan. The R8 Spider, an open-top roadster model, followed in 2009. In Latin America, the R8 became available at the end of 2008 at dealers in Mexico City, Bogota, Medellin, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Lima and Santiago. Customers bought every unit available for 2008 within a week after the R8 premiered at the Bogota International Auto Show and Auto Expo of Medellin.

The Audi R8 was initially equipped with a 4.2 litre V8 internal combustion engine. Specific detail: it is an all-aluminium alloy 32-valve (four valves per cylinder) petrol engine, utilising Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), and has a displacement of 4,163 cc (254.0 cu in). It develops a motive power output of 309 kilowatts (420 PS; 414 bhp), and generates 430 newton metres (317 ft·lbf) of torque, on 98 RON ‘Super Unleaded’ petrol. It is basically the same engine used in the B7 Audi RS4, but is modified to use dry sump lubrication system. This V8 is a highly reworked, high-revving variant from the existing 4.2 litre V8, but includes cylinder-direct fuel injection (Fuel Stratified Injection), and four valves per cylinder, instead of five (as used on the non-FSI variants). It also uses two chain-driven dual overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank, and utilises variable valve timing for both inlet and exhaust camshafts.

A new additional variant with a 5.2 litre Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) V10 engine was added on the 9th of December 2008, which produces 386 kW (525 PS; 518 bhp) and 530 N·m (391 ft·lbf). The transmission options are either a Lamborghini sourced manual gearbox with metal gate for the shift lever, or an Audi-developed “R tronic” gearbox – which is a single-clutch semi-automatic electrohydraulic manual transmission, without a traditional clutch pedal. These options are the same as those available on the Lamborghini Gallardo. A double clutch Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG), now badged by Audi as “S tronic”, is not available (as of December 2009).

Audi AG unveiled the Audi R8 V10 on 9 December 2008. It uses a 5.2 litre FSI internal combustion engine, based on the unit in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, but is detuned to produce a motive power output of 386 kilowatts (525 PS; 518 bhp), and generate 530 newton metres (391 ft·lbf) of torque. Compared to the V8 variant, the R8 V10’s performance numbers are enhanced. Audi estimates the new 0-100 kilometres per hour (62 mph) time as only 3.9 seconds, 60-124 mph in 8.1 seconds, and a top speed of 196 mph (315.4 km/h). Other changes to the V10 version of the R8 include some aesthetic differences such as all-LED headlights, interior enhancements, and a more aggressive body styling, larger rear brakes and unique roadwheels.
Audi r8
It was initially thought that this version of the R8 was going to have the same engine as the C6 Audi RS6, a 5.0 litre V10 TFSI ‘biturbo’ engine, which produces 580 PS (427 kW; 572 bhp). However, some components of the twin-turbo system overheated, and one prototype was destroyed by fire at the Nürburgring. This model is showing at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. This version of the R8 appears in the trailers and in the box art of the Xbox 360 racing game, Forza Motorsport 3.

Audi Q3 Production Starts In Spain

The Q3 will be produced in Spain at the plant in Martorell. Audi which has a sister company named Seat will assist Audi in making the Q3 at their plant in Spain. Within a years’ time we will have 100,000 Audi Q3’s down the road and the numbers will keep on rolling.
Audi Q3 is expected to make its debut by late 2011 or early 2012. If you wish to know more about the Audi Q3 hit this link.
PRESS RELEASE
Audi Q3 starts volume production
- Compact premium SUV from Audi begins to roll off assembly line today
- Board Member for Production Frank Dreves: “Martorell factory has first-class quality and Audi seal of approval.”
- Annual production of 100,000 vehicles planned
Martorell/Ingolstadt, June 7, 2011 – The official start of production for the Audi Q3 has begun. Starting today, the compact SUV with the four rings will be built at the SEAT factory in Martorell, located in Spain’s Catalonia region. Approximately 100,000 Q3 units are slated to leave the three-shift assembly line each year. Audi and SEAT together have invested around €330 million in infrastructure and ultra-modern production facilities.
“The Audi Q3 production is an example of how we are making use of synergies within the Group,” stresses Frank Dreves, Board Member for Production at AUDI AG. “The Martorell factory is an extremely productive facility with a highly skilled workforce, and one that meets the exacting quality standards of our brand. The Q3 definitely gets the Audi seal of approval.”
The decision to build the Audi Q3 in Spain signals the Ingolstadt-based carmaker’s intention to continue its dynamic course of growth while also pursuing a strategy of internationalization. In choosing Martorell as the new production site, Audi is also taking on an important social responsibility, for both the region and the workforce. The Company provides approximately 1,500 jobs at the plant, including 700 newly created positions. Special emphasis was placed on training the workforce. All staff have completed a nearly 180-hour program designed specifically for the Q3 to prepare them for the challenges they will be faced with on the production line.
The Company has created the optimum conditions for the latest offspring in its broad product line-up: A new body shop featuring 450 state-of-the-art robots was erected especially for the Q3 on a site measuring 30,000 square meters (322,917 sq. ft). In use for the first time at the body shop is the so-called “roof bell,” an innovative development from the Audi Toolmaking Shop in Ingolstadt. A robot grabs the roof and aligns it precisely while a second robot has the roof bell ready for the following roof of the next body.
Thanks to its systematic lightweight design, the basic version of the Audi Q3 weighs less than 1,500 kilograms (3,306.93 lb). Its engine hood and the wrap-around hatchback with integrated tail lights are made of aluminum. A number of ultra-high-strength steels are employed in the rigid, safe passenger cell.
“A big thank you to all the employees who have been involved in the Q3 project over the past years,” says SEAT Board Member for Production Wolfram Thomas. “The new model is another example of the trust that the Volkswagen Group and AUDI AG in particular have placed in SEAT. The Q3 represents the excellent preparation and premium-carmaking skills of SEAT employees,” Thomas stresses.
A small, sporty SUV, the Audi Q3 will join the other members of the Q family, the Audi Q5 and the Audi Q7. The five-door Q3 with its dynamic, coupe-like styling offers genuine SUV traits in terms of seating position, wheel size and ground clearance, and stands out on account of the extremely sporty driving experience it provides. The Q3 combines the design and dynamics of a compact car with the roominess and versatility of an SUV. The range of driver assistance systems brings a new dimension to the compact SUV category. The Audi Q3 will launch with three four-cylinder powerplants: one TDI unit and two TFSI engines. Developing between 103 kW (140 hp) and 155 kW (211 hp), they are as powerful as they are efficient.
With the Audi Q3, the brand with the four rings is entering into a new segment. Advance sales for Europe will begin in June. Market launch is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of this year. Around 100,000 units are expected to make their way to customers in 2012, the first full production year. In Germany, sales of the Q3 will begin at a base price of €29,900. Plans are in place to build the sporty compact in China, specifically for the local market, in a second phase.
The SEAT factory in Martorell was built in 1993. It employs over 10,000 staff. The Audi Q3 is the first model built in Martorell by the Ingolstadt-based company.
