Lancia Ypsilon 'Collection 2011' Flies to Los Angeles for Promo Shoot

The Fiat Group is trying to make the best of its newly found contacts in the U.S. after its partnership with Chrysler LLC as the Italian automaker chose the city of Los Angeles to shoot the promotional photos as well as a new TV spot for its limited edition Lancia Ypsilon 'Collection 2011', which goes on sale in Europe this month. The special edition version of the ageing Ypsilon adds some unique styling touches such as bespoke color options for the body work and cabin trim, plus an upgraded interior with new fabrics and leather surfaces with contrast piping.

The 'Collection 2011' or as it is called in Italy, 'Collezione 2011', will be the last hurrah for the current Ypsilon as Lancia will unveil an all-new model at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show. The next generation will be the first ever model in the Ypsilon series to be offered with a five-door body style, but more to come on that before the end of the month.

This here is the actual, factual Fiat Abarth 500 Gulf Limited Edition special in the flesh, photographed at the Autopolis Fiat dealership in Luxembourg. We say this because yesterday, we reported on the limited run special and Fiat's photoshoped picture that made the internet rounds. While our friends from Auto55 and Autofans verified the story with the official press release, we were left wondering what the Italian mini with the classic racing-livery would look like in real life.

Today, our pondering came to an end as the Marketing and Communications director of Autopolis Luxembourg dropped the first real life shots of the car in our mailbox. We believe Fiat should have released these photos instead of the 'chop from the beginning, but we'll give them props for keeping a close eye on the web-o-sphere and swiftly reacting to our post.

EPA Rates the 2012 Fiat 500 at 38MPG on the Highway

 The U.S.-spec 2012 Fiat 500 equipped with the 5-speed manual gearbox has received EPA ratings of 38 mpg on the highway, 30 mpg in the city and a combined figure of 33 mpg. American buyers can also opt for a 6-speed automatic, which is rated at 34 mpg highway, 27 mpg in the city and 30 mpg combined.

The 500 is produced at the Fiat Group’s Toluca plant in Mexico and it will start arriving in larger volumes this spring. The automaker plans to open a total of 130 dealerships, of which 40-50 will be in business by the end of March, while the rest should be open by the end of the year, according to Fiat North America.

At the start of sales three models will be available. The entry-level Pop costs $15,995, while the Sport and Lounge are priced at $17,995 and $19,995 respectively, with all prices including destination charge. The Sport model is expected to become the biggest seller of the lineup.

All models come equipped with power locks and windows, air conditioning, 50/50 split fold-down rear seat, speed control, heated mirrors, 7 airbags, 15-inch steel wheels and 4-year, 50,000-mile warranty.

Compared to its European counterpart, the U.S.-spec Fiat 500 was modified in order to be more appealing to American customers. The automatic transmission is one of the major additions, but the North American car is also quieter and has a more comfortable ride, while the 101HP 1.4-liter FIRE engine received the MultiAir intake system as well. Fiat claims that MultiAir improves fuel efficiency and power output by 10% over the Euro-spec engine.

Palio, Siena e Idea ganham câmbio Dualogic

Antes usado apenas no Stilo e Linea, o câmbio Dualogic passa também para a lista de opcionais das versões 1.8 do Palio ELX e Siena HLX e também nas versões 1.8 Adventure Locker de Palio Weekend e Idea. Este tipo de cambio permite a troca de marchas automáticas ou manual, de maneira sequencial.

O sistema é desenvolvido em conjunto com a Magneti Marelli a transmissão tem 5 velocidades e permite ao motorista trocar as marchas de forma manual ou automatizada a qualquer momento durante a condução. O sistema na verdade é uma caixa de câmbio na qual o comando manual foi substituído por um conjunto controlado por uma central eletrônica, que comanda a troca das marchas e a embreagem automaticamente.

E segundo a lenda este sistema reduz em 5% o consumo de combustível sem roubar potência do motor.

O projeto, chamado Fiat Mio conta com o apoio dos clientes para criação do protótipo FCC III, o terceiro Fiat Concept Car para ser apresentado no Salão do Automóvel em outubro de 2010, em São Paulo.

Strada Cabine dupla mais fotos e detalhes

A Strada já era líder do seguimento e agora com mais esta novidade tende a manter a liderança, mesmo com a vinda nova Saveiro.

A nova Strada aumentou o espaço interno em 55 cm maior que a Strada Adventure “Simples”, mas apesar de maior ela só carrega dois passageiros na parte de trás. Porem estes não podem ter mais que 1,75 m de altura, pois se não ficarão meio que apertados, pior é que nem o motorista pode ser muito grande ,pois irá limitar ainda mais o espaço para os passageiros.

A picape está disponível apenas na versão Adventure por R$ 46.440. E sai de série com ar-condicionado, direção hidráulica, vidros e travas elétricas, além de rodas de liga-leve de 15 polegadas. Freios ABS, airbag duplo, CD player com Bluetooth e entrada USB. O sistema Locker é vendido separadamente por R$ 1.200. O equipamento continua de série na picape de cabine estendida e em outros modelos da linha Adventure.

O problema é que com este novo modelo a Strada acabou perdendo muito espaço na caçamba. Ante tinha 830 l e agora com a cabine dupla ficou com apenas 580 litros podendo carregar até 650 quilos em seus 1,4 m² de área.

Ela tem o comprimento total de 4,46 m, 1,74 m de largura, 1,63 m de altura e 2,75 m de distância entre-eixos. O motor é o 1.8 flex de 114 cv a 5 500 rpm e 18,5 kgfm a 2 800 rpm, ambos com álcool que segundo a Fiat acelera de 0 a 100 km/h em 11,8 segundos e atinge velocidade máxima de 175 km/h abastecido com Álcool.

A Fia lança mais uma versão do Idea a versão ELX 1.8. Os acabamentos são os mesmos da versão ELX 1.4, porém com o motor 1.8.

Nesta versão o motor 1.8 tem 114 cv com álcool e 112 cv com gasolina com velocidade máxima de 180 km/h a gasolina e 182 km/h a álcool.

O Idea ELX 1.8 será vendido a partir de R$ 40.910,00, E virá de série com direção hidráulica, computador de bordo, sistemas My Car e Follow Me Home, banco do motorista e volante com regulagem de altura, vidros dianteiros elétricos, travas elétricas, porta-objetos afixado no teto, bolsas nos encostos dos bancos dianteiros, banco traseiro bi-partido, terceira luz de freio e bagageiro no teto.

Entre os opcionais estão o kit viva-voiz com Bluetooth, teto solar Skydome e sensores de estacionamento, espelho eletrotrômico, crepuscular e chuva, entre outros. E tem a cores vermelho Magna e cinza Tellurium.
