The Peugeot 5 Concept car is another indication of the changing face of Peugeot and provides an insight into the Marque's future ambitions in the large luxury vehicle segment. Its pure and elegant lines blend with subtle technical detailing to create an overall effect of a timeless, exclusive and modern design.

Powered by Peugeot's HYbrid4 technology, it ensures both high levels of driving enjoyment and environmental protection - 200 bhp, four-wheel drive and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km or zero in electric mode.

Bold expressive design
Its dimensions, proportions and styling are a direct response to the changing trends in the large luxury saloon car market segment. It reflects the continual search for more status, quality and performance, combined with a modernity that encompasses the vehicle's general efficiency in terms of architecture, engines and styling.

Peugeot 5 Concept expresses the Marque's vision and experience in the large touring car market. This concept car is designed and built to have both elegance and precision, but without in any way sacrificing the personality and dynamism so beloved of the Peugeot Marque. The emotion aroused by its exterior design holds the promise of exceptional interior space, convenience and comfort.

A modern, prestigious and timeless styling
The contours of the exterior body flow smoothly, unruffled and without interruption or embellishment from the end of the bonnet to the top of the boot lid. All surfaces are perfectly aligned, with clearances between each element precisely determined to obtain a quality of assembly rivalling that of a goldsmith. The overall effect it creates is that of a vehicle that has been hewn from a solid block of material.

At the front, the interpretation of the Marque's traditional feline appearance is spectacular; "LED" lights are highlighted by the use of illuminated surrounds that blend perfectly with the overall exterior body styling. The headlamps frame a unique front grille design, whose visual appearance is closely influenced by the Peugeot SR1 concept car. The innovative design of the front grille gives the impression that it is detached from the vehicle; it appears to be suspended in front of the car. The new revised Lion badge naturally takes pride of place in a specially shaped area at the front of the long aluminium bonnet.

The streamlined sides of the car are enhanced further by the bevelled, brushed-aluminium window surrounds and door handles, combined with sculpted 19'' wheel trims. The rear design of the vehicle suggests both robustness and power. The bold design of rear lights, consisting of three separate linked light clusters, clearly distinguish the vehicle at night, but also provides a link back to some of the Marque's historic models.

A new driving experience
The elegance, precision and dynamic appearance of the car's exterior styling is also reflected in the car's technical specification. The Peugeot 5 Concept incorporates Peugeot's HYbrid4 technology which, will be launched in 2011 in the Peugeot 3008.

A 2.0 litre HDi FAP163 bhp diesel engine, mounted at the front of the vehicle, is combined with a 37 bhp electric motor at the rear. This arrangement provides an overall maximum power of 200 bhp, an electric only mode for low speed operation, four-wheel drive when required, and low fuel consumption and emissions of 74.3 mpg and 99 g/km of CO2 or zero in electric mode.

Peugeot 5 Concept is further proof of Peugeot's environmental strategy. The modular technology of the Hybrid4 system can be combined with a range of naturally-aspirated engines according to market requirements, and can be fitted to different body shapes and different platforms, helping to ensure future driving enjoyment.

BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroën Form Joint Venture to Produce Hybrid Components

Already partners in developing 4-cylinder petrol engines, BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroën have decided to set up 50-50 equity joint venture named the BMW Peugeot Citroën Electrification, which will primarily focus on developing hybrid components. Sharing the cost of research and development as well as production and component purchasing, the two companies expect to achieve significant economies of scale.

The hybrid components in question include battery packs, E-machines, generators, power electronics and chargers, alongside the necessary software to operate them that will also be jointly developed. The new technologies will be used by the two automakers for their upcoming electric vehicles and could be sold to other companies as well.

The joint venture is expected to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2011 and it’s estimated that the first series production hybrid components will arrive in 2014.

“This cooperative venture will enable us to achieve significant economies of scale in the field of electrification. It also represents an important step on the road to sustainable mobility”, said Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

“With this joint venture, we are sure to develop and expand our expertise and to build a European leader in the field of automotive hybrid innovation”, noted Philippe Varin, Chairman of the Managing Board of PSA Peugeot Citroën.

Peugeot mostra 308 CC

Algumas fotos do Peugeot 308 conversível foram divulgadas hoje no site da montadora. Antecipado pelo conceito 308 RC Z, que esteve no último Salão de Frankfurt, o 308 CC estava previsto para ser apresentado no mesmo salão em 2009, como a Pegeot havia anunciado quando confirmou sua produção em série. Mas, com a divulgação das fotos, cogita-se que a francesa apresente o carro já no Salão de Paris, que será realizado em outubro.

A frente e o interior lembram muito o conceito RC Z. Por outro lado, a traseira recebeu um design mais convencional, seguindo o padrão adotado no 207 CC. Além dos motores usados na família 308, a Peugeot chegou a cogitar o uso de um motor a diesel híbrido. Se os planos se confirmarem, será o primeiro cupê-conversível híbrido do mundo produzido em série.

Peugeot 207: mais do mesmo

A Peugeot mostrou à imprensa especializada o novo 207 nacional, reestilização do 206 com toques do 207 europeu esta semana, em Búzios, RJ. Sem condições de trazer o 207 real, a marca optou por uma estratégia usada há muitos anos pela montadoras antigas, dar um tapa no visual, melhorar alguns aspectos do carro e rebatizá-lo como um novo produto.

Funciona com as marcas tradicionais, mas será que o público da Peugeot, acostumado a modernidade e em andar em veículos em linha com o exterior, gostará? Só o início das vendas para saber.

Ao menos o carro ficou mais barato. Não se sabe se temendo a recepção morna que o modelo teve entre o público, a marca francesa decidiu oferecer o compacto com um desconto considerável.

Um exemplo: o 206 hatch 1.4 Presence custava R$ 39 750 em junho de 2007, valor que aumentou para R$ 40 790 este mês. O 207 XR, versão equivalente, tem preço de R$ 37 790, R$ 3 000 a menos.

Por falar em XR, a Peugeot mudou a nomenclatura no 207. Nada de palavras francesas, em lugar disso siglas, como a maior parte do mercado faz. Portanto, a versãoo mais simples chama-se XR, a com toques esportivos, XR S, e a top de linha, XS. Ajuda também a não confundir com o sedã 207, que se chama Passion.

Embora não tenha informado os valores do 207 Passion, estimamos os preços, baseado na diferença entre o hatch e a perua SW. Como havíamos informado, o 207 só será vendido em agosto, uma estratégia que até agora nós não entendemos. Permanece em linha apenas o 206 Sensation, básico, com preço de R$ 28 690.

Melhor ao vivo
É quase uma lei: ver um carro ao vivo é sempre diferente de observá-lo em fotos e com o 207 nacional é assim também. O resultado da plástica ficou bom, sem dúvida. Claro, imaginando que não exista o 207 original. A frente, embora mais agressiva, é muito atraente e, como é uma evolução do design do 206, não parece tão artificial quanto alguns facelifts.

A traseira do hatch, embora tenha sido pouco mexida, recebeu bem o novo pára-choque ressaltado - as lanternas com desenho novo já haviam mudado em 2004. Mas é por dentro que o 207 dá melhor impressão. A parte superior do painel conferiu mais qualidade ao carro, sbretudo o novo painel de instrumentos.

Pena que a partir daí o 207 continua 206: os comandos dos vidros estão no mesmo lugar e o espaço interno, exíguo.

Melhor andando
As discretas mudanças mecânicas parecem ter funcionado. O carro está um pouco mais ágil e a suspensão não dá a impressão de fragilidade da anterior. O carro passa mais confiança nas curvas. Já o câmbio, que era razoável, ficou mais preciso e de encaixes mais suaves.

Em comparação ao seu novo rival da Renault, o Sandero, o 207 continuará devendo espaço interno, mas é um carro com interior e visual muito mais agradável.

307 com motor 2.0 Flex e sedã com nova traseira

A tão polêmica traseira do Peugeot 307 sedã, enfim, ganhou um "tapa". Lanternas com nova lente, logotipo em nova posição e barra cromada da placa com o nome da marca são as mudanças. Além disso, as versões com motor 2.0 litro dos modelos sedã e hatch passam a ser flex. As novidades estarão presentes nas versões Feline e Griffe, que de acordo com uma concessionária da marca custarão a partir de R$ 61 mil, no modelo intermediário, e R$ 73 mil no topo de linha. As vendas, ainda de acordo com a rede de revendedores, começam em julho. O 307 SW, importando da França, continua com a motorização à gasolina

Segundo a Peugeot, o rendimento do propulsor com álcool sobe para 151 cv a 6.000 rpm e 22 kgfm de torque, ante 143 cv e 20 kgfm com gasolina. O aumento da potência se deu por conta da elevação na taxa de compressão do motor. O bloco também ganhou revestimento especial resistente à corrosão causada pelo combustível vegetal.
