Mercedes-Benz launch the G-Wagen in India at Rs 1.1 crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched their globally renowned off-roader, the G-Wagen in India. The G-Wagen was first launched as a military vehicle for the German army, and its original design has stood the test of time to be considered one of the most timeless automobiles of all time. Priced at Rs 1.1 crore ex-showroom Mumbai the G-Wagen commands a premium for its history heritage and off-road cred.

Mercedes Benz has put in a very potent 5.5 Liter Supercharged V8 AMG petrol mill under this monster’s bonnet. All that cubic capacity and crazy air induction leads to a peak power output of 507 horses and 700m of steel-twisting torque. The car does 0-100 in a claimed 5.5 seconds, and comes equipped with a seven speed transmission.

The G-Wagen still being a ‘purist’ off-roader employs the time-tested ‘body on ladder frame’ setup. That sort of a setup isn’t too conducive for high speed stability and cornering confidence. M-B India, thus have very aptly limited the top speed of the vehicle to 210km/h. Apart from the usual Mercedes safety goodies, the G-Wagen comes equipped with some really exclusive off-roading gear which includes three fully lockable differentials. Mercedes 4ETS system ensures that torque is distributed individually to wheels getting the most amount of traction to help the vehicle get out tricky conditions with aplomb.

The G-Wagen also comes equipped with features such as Bi-Xenon headlamps, COMAND system and corner illuminating fog lamps.
